On the Waterfront, Aman

First experience last Tuesday at the new restaurant of the Aman hotel, on Lodhi road.

Only a few days after the official opening, it was already full. There is a great majority of Indians, been probably already used in standards of Set'z in Emporio Mall. And I must confess that, as in Vasant Kunj, it is well done. Bravo DLF! Contemporary design, cosy atmosphere even if the music is always too loud, accommodating service but still in the running-in period, open and central kitchen for a cuisine with three influences: continental, oriental and Indian...

About wines, a majestic bar set scene from the entry and a wide window is there to emphasize the beautiful flasks. An attractive showcasing, but as often bottles are at room temperature and exposed directly to the light... On this point there is much to improve, as in Set'z moreover where bottles are arranged the neck downward!

But what is there to drink, you will say to me? I privileged this evening the wine-list of champagnes, with the pleasant surprise to find beautiful references with decent prices (I do not dare to say "sweet" for Delhi). By the glass, Bollinger Special Cuvée and Roederer Brut Premier at 900Rs + taxes. In bottle, I recommend these same references at 6500Rs + and the magnificent Bollinger rosé at 7500Rs +. With some well-made sushis and sashimis, Bollinger and Roederer played a beautiful partition: the first in absolute roundness, the second more ethereal and flattering.

I also found on the wine-list some French icons as Latour or Figeac. But in that case, it is necessary to pay out much more ... as to privatize the nice terrace-pontoon on the water (1.5 lakhs)!
